Hammerling Wines was founded in 2018 with a bold vision: to craft vibrant, low-intervention sparkling wines that capture the energy of California’s cool-climate coastal vineyards.

Winemaker and founder Josh Hammerling began his journey in 2014, getting his hands dirty in the cellars, vineyards, and tasting rooms of Washington State. What started as a series of experimental fermentations in friends’ garages quickly evolved into a deep obsession with sparkling wine—both the timeless and the unconventional.

In 2017, Josh moved to Berkeley to work with Broc Cellars and bring his own project to life. He chose Berkeley not just for its creative energy, but for its perfect position between the rugged vineyards of Mendocino and the sun-soaked slopes of the Central Coast. From this urban winemaking hub, Hammerling sources exceptional fruit from responsible growers up and down the coast.

Every bottle we produce is made entirely by hand—from pressing to bottling—with an uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship and character. Our wines are a celebration of place, process, and the thrill of discovering something unexpected in every glass.
